Ghost of tsushima interactive map3/20/2024 ![]() Tsushima is the closest Japanese territory to the Korean Peninsula, lying approximately 50 km from Busan. The archipelago comprises over 100 smaller islets in addition to the main island. Ōfunakoshi-Seto and Manzeki-Seto, the two canals built in 16 respectively, connect the deep indentation of Asō Bay (浅茅湾) to the east side of the island. The Korea Strait splits at the Tsushima Island Archipelago into two channels the wider channel, closer to the mainland of Japan, is the Tsushima Strait. Tsushima Island is located west of the Kanmon Strait at a latitude between Honshu and Kyushu of the Japanese mainland. The city of Tsushima, Nagasaki lies on Tsushima Island and is divided into six boroughs. The main islands (that is, the "North" and "South" islands, and the thin island that connects them) are the largest coherent satellite island group of Nagasaki Prefecture and the eighth-largest in Japan. The island group measures about 70 km (43 mi) by 15 km (9 mi) and had a population of about 28,000 as of 2022. Administratively, Tsushima Island is in Nagasaki Prefecture. The name Tsushima generally refers to all the islands of the Tsushima archipelago collectively. Tsushima also incorporates over 100 smaller islands, many tiny. These canals were driven through isthmuses in the center of the island, forming "North Tsushima Island" ( Kamino-shima) and "South Tsushima Island" ( Shimono-shima). The main island of Tsushima, once a single island, was divided into two in 1671 by the Ōfunakoshiseto canal and into three in 1900 by the Manzekiseto canal. Tsushima Island ( Japanese: 対馬, Hepburn: Tsushima) is an island of the Japanese archipelago situated in-between the Tsushima Strait and Korea Strait, approximately halfway between Kyushu and the Korean Peninsula.

When they are guided to search for evidence, children learn to filter information, as well as critically approach literature. This helps children to see beyond the words they read and understand the narrative and information value the text carries. Today, we’ll focus on how to teach kids to find and mark textual evidence when answering simple questions or writing an essay, depending on their age and education level. However, in the context of teaching kids, literary analysis takes a much simpler form and can be broken down into five simple steps: Literary analysis involves examining all parts of a literary piece of any kind, like a reading passage, a novel, a play, or a poem, and making a critical judgment. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll be sharing how to teach text evidence to kids from different age groups, why that’s important, and how to turn it into a fun, stimulating activity, as well as give you tips on the best activities and strategies you can incorporate in your classroom or home. How to teach kids to cite evidence from literature without overwhelming them or having them lose attention? However, with such a plethora of different approaches, it’s impossible not to wonder what’s the best way to go about it. There are many strategies that will allow you to make this activity fun, meaningful, and simple to understand. ![]() As tough as they can be to teach, analyzing literature and citing evidence should be introduced right after the child makes the transition from learning to read to reading to learn. Teaching literary analysis is a challenging task, but the skills kids acquire through this exercise are crucial in developing their critical thinking and deepening their reading comprehension abilities.

Google extensions chrome ecosia3/19/2024 We put our profits into tree planting and we are also focused on privacy, so users can have a positive impact on the environment while having greater control over their personal information. ![]() It’s important that there are independent players in the market that don’t just exist for profit. Recent research indicates that providing a choice of search engines has the potential to increase the collective mobile market share of alternative search engines to Google by 300 – 800%. “It’s also good news for user choice and fairness. Our addition to Chrome will now make it even easier for users to help reforest delicate, at-risk and often devastated ecosystems, and to fight climate change, just by using the internet. Everywhere, people are weighing up the changes they can make to reduce their carbon footprint, including adopting technologies such as Ecosia. Following last summer’s forest fires in the Amazon, Ecosia saw a 1,150% increase in daily downloads in a single day.Įcosia’s CEO Christian Kroll said: “Ecosia’s growth over the last year shows just how invested users are in the fight against the climate crisis. The addition of Ecosia comes following a record year for Ecosia in terms of user growth, with its number of monthly active users rising from 8 million to 15 million over 2019. Google Chrome’s selection of default search engines is based on search engine popularity rankings in different markets. Thanks to this new development, users will no longer need to download an extension to search with Ecosia in their URL bar – the search engine will be added as a default option for users in up to 47 countries. Recently we interviewed founder and CEO Christian Kroll on how they manage competition with giants like Google, and discussed how Ecosia has unique features like leaf icons that appear next to ethical companies. How does Ecosia do it? Using their ad revenue, and by partnering with reforestation projects, they had planted more than 80 million trees by December 2019. Pitching itself as an ethical alternative to Google or Bing, in January, around half of Ecosia’s total income was used to help plant trees. Causing users to think about how their everyday actions can indeed do good, using Ecosia as your search engine means that trees are being planted all over the world. ![]() Ecosia will take its spot as one of Chrome’s top 5 list of search engines, alongside Google Search, Bing, DuckDuckGo and Yahoo!Įcosia, founded in 2019, is a ‘challenger’ search engine disrupting the status quo. The Berlin-based ‘search engine for good’, has announced that it will be a default search engine option in the next Google Chrome release. With the ad revenue generated going towards efforts to fight deforestation, all the while respecting data privacy, Ecosia might be a worthwhile alternative to Google and Bing.Today is a big day for social enterprise Ecosia. (This will create an Ecosia ‘extension’ you will then see a little Ecosia symbol either next to or under your address bar.) You are now. This will redirect you to the Chrome Web Store where you need to click ‘Add to Chrome’. However, its main selling point for many users is going to be its environment-friendly approach in general. Once there, you will be prompted to ‘add Ecosia to Chrome’. While this might be a small detail, Ecoasia’s settings menu is simple and easy to navigate, in comparison to Google which requires you to dive into several menus just to delete your browsing history. When you use Ecosia, you get what you expect out of a search engine, with a little extra. In contrast, Google and Bing will hold onto bits of search data (such as the device or date), even after deleting browser history and cookies. ![]() Furthermore, any search made on Ecosia becomes anonymized after one week. However, Ecosia importantly doesn’t use any third-party tracking tools, meaning that any search made on the service won’t be seen by any party other than Ecosia. ![]() Ecosia does beat Google and Bing on search security, considering all searches performed are encrypted - as indicated by the lock icon in the browser’s address bar. On a functional level, Ecosia’s browser works the same as other popular browsers and possesses many of the same features.

Medicinal soup chrysanthemum not bloom3/19/2024 ![]() If desired, strain processed soup before returning to the saucepan. Ladle the soup into a food processor or blender, discarding a ladleful or two of the “broth”, and process until smooth. Cover and simmer for about 8-10 minutes, until peas are tender. Add the greens and peas, stirring to coat with butter and oil. When butter is melted, add the minced shallots and sauté until softened, about three minutes. Place butter and oil in a heavy saucepan over medium heat. Roughly chop greens and the chives and set aside. ![]() ![]() Remove stems from all the greens and cut out the large rib of the swiss chard. Wash chrysanthemum leaves, sorrel and swiss chard. Or, if you can’t get the elusive edible chrysanthemum, just add extras of the others. I know that’s a rather vague quantity but really you can just use what you have on hand. I’ll be getting another bunch of chrysanthemum next time I’m back over to the farm and I think I’ll try a stir-fry with it next time or maybe a quiche since that worked so well for sorrel.Ī general word about the recipe: I just call for bunches of each green. Another plus that shouldn’t go without mentioning is that this soup is so choked full of vitamins and minerals, you could skip your vitamin supplements for a week after eating just one bowl of this stuff. If you immediately scrunched up your nose when you read “seaweed”, you’ll be happier just tossing edible chrysanthemum in with some other salad greens and enjoying its mellow bite in raw form. If you like earthy green flavors like seaweed, you’ll adore this soup. The resulting potage was quite flavorful but not something for the picky eater. In the end, I decided soup it would be, although it made for a tasty salad addition. I’d liken it to a slightly less bitter sorrel or a more tender and bitter chicory. Lacking any solid guidance, other than reading it’s generally used in soups, salads, and stir-fries, I ate some of the leaves raw to get a feel for its flavors. I was a bit annoyed at myself because I know I’d clipped an article once upon a time with a recipe for edible chrysanthemum, but I guess it got lost along the way since I hadn’t ever found any to buy and try. I scoured all of my cookbooks, then moved on to my recipe clippings, and finally hit up the internet and still wasn’t finding anything very useful. Well, those customers weren’t the only ones without a clue. Farmer Dave was asking me to play around with the stuff since he didn’t know what to tell customers at market who asked how to use it. It is different from the ornamental mums you put out in your flower beds or deck containers each fall. Edible Chrysanthemum is known by many names (Garland Chrysanthemum, Crown Daisy, Shingiku, Choy Suy Green, Tong Ho, Ssukgat, etc.) around the world and is used mostly in Asian dishes, from what I could gather. This mystery ingredient, however, was completely new to me too. I was tickled because it was, whether he realized it to be or not, a little pat on the back that said “Hey, you’re pretty much an expert at figuring out how to use farm produce so naturally I’d ask you to create a recipe for me.” That’s what happened when Farmer Dave asked me to play around with a new crop on Weavers Way Farm. Things that make the corners of your mouth turn up just a notch and put a gleam in your eyes. Sometimes it’s the little things that tickle a person.

Rulers life size 12 inch3/19/2024 ![]() ![]() You will normally find (on any pocket tape of quality) that the hook 'floats'. In pocket tapes (as seen in the image below), this is usually a straight piece of metal attached to the blade by a number of rivets. The hook or 'tang' of the tape measure is the small, usually metallic component at the end of the blade. 1 inch = 16 x 1/16th of an inch, 8 x 1/8th of an inch, 4 x 1/4 of an inch or 2 x 1/2 of an inch. Each inch will then have eight 1/8th of an inch and sixteen 1/16th of an inch marks. Even smaller marks then denote 1/8ths and 1/16ths (marked in red) of an inch.Ī 16ft tape measure, for example, will have sixteen one-foot marks along its length and 192 one-inch marks (12 inches per foot). The mark directly in the middle of the inch denotes a measurment of 1/2" whilst the markings either side of it represent measurements of 1/4" and 3/4" respectively. Between those numbers are a series of shorter marks which represent fractions of an inch. These numbers sit next to long vertical marks which represent whole inches. When referring to the diagram above you'll see a series of large numbers marked 1, 2, 3, and 4. Most manufacturers have, therefore, opted to produce UK-spec tape measures with both metric and imperial graduations. Despite this almost all 21st Century technical, engineering or construction measurements are quoted in millimetres. We measure our height in feet and inches, our weight in stones and pounds and our speed in miles per hour. Whilst Britain now officially operates a metric system of measurement, our nation still sees a curious mix of both metric and imperial measurements being used on a day to day basis. 41mm can also be referred to as 4.1cm (0.041m) but the majority of trades in the UK do tend to quote measurements in milimetres. The next small mark in line would be 42mm, the next would be 43mm and so on. When looking at the image above, the 1st small mark after the 4cm point denotes a measurement of 41mm. Also, whilst a few tapes show '1m' to display the 1 metre mark, the majority will show '100cm'. ![]() Whilst the centimetres are clearly numbered, to make the blade easier to read the millimetres are not numbered. There are 10mm in each centimetre (shown by the ten spaces between each cm) and 100cm in each metre. In other words they're in centimetres and milimetres. The measurements towards the bottom of the image are metric. In response to our customers, therefore, we’ve put together this simple guide that explains just that!Ībove you'll see a picture of a metric/imperial pocket tape measure. We regularly get asked the question “how do you read a tape measure”. Whilst the seasoned professionals amongst you will no doubt be fully aware how to read the various markings on your tape, there will be amateurs, enthusiasts or those just starting off in their careers who aren’t yet so knowledgeable. Therefore, many systems were expanded to become more complex, and the prisons featured in the game are multi-storied. The team wanted to introduce something new to players. Since the first game's code would have needed to be substantially rewritten to incorporate such features, the team decided to create a new game instead. The team listened to feedback from players who have played the first game and identified multiplayer as the most requested feature. Mouldy Toof Studios created The Escapists 2 in conjunction with Team17. There are some unique escapes that require multiplayer to unlock where up to four players can assist each other when escaping prison. The game features both local and online cooperative multiplayer. The game features an expanded combat system which allows players to lock onto targets, block and perform light and heavy attacks. There are also more customization options for the player character.
